SIMPLE IS BEST

I was invited on a three-month business tour of the Far East with a group of buyers who were going to purchase antiques. All of them, especially one who was a dear friend of the high fashion guru, Halston, dressed in such a chic manner that I wondered if I would look like I ”belonged” in the group. I told them I was worried about how to pack in one suitcase, which is all we were allowed because of space limitations in the trunk of the car in which we would be traveling. They taught me about mix and match that trip. First, I picked the basic colors of black and white for my wardrobe and packed a wrap dress in a pattern with those colors for evening wear. Two black skirts, several white or black tops, a black leather jacket, a white angora beret, black leather gloves, and I was ready, and chic!

I learned a lot on that excursion from people who knew how to look fashionable and elegant under the restraints of travel and space. Remember, simple is best for any occasion. But also remember that if you want to look “with it” and be up to date with modern fashion styles, you should use accessories. I did that for color, i.e. a red scarf, colorful bangle bracelets, hair ornaments and costume jewelry. Also, no matter what size you are, tall or short, slim or hefty, simple is best to showcase either a beautiful body or to hide a few flaws.
