A tent dress is a type of dress that is hanging loose from the shoulder down. It is without a waistline and a belt so it is also called the "preggy or pregnant look" dress but it is not restricted to be worn by the pregnant only.

It is a casual dress that any woman may practically wear anywhere; to the mall, bookstore, movies, and coffee shop. It can also be worn when you go shopping or just hanging out with your friends.

There was a time that it became a trend and it was widely sold in department stores and boutiques in different colors and styles. Because of its ease and comfort when worn, the young and the more mature ones want to own a piece or two but more than that if one has the budget.

The material used can be of any fabric and color; it can be plain or brightly colored prints, floral, stripes, dots or checkered. It can be with or without collar. It can be short sleeved, long sleeved, puffed sleeved, or sleeveless. The design is diversified with ruffles, lace, fringes, buttons and can be even be embellished with studs, glitters, and sequins.

The length also varies as it can be short as a blouse or can be longer as a mini skirt. Those that are short are usually paired with leggings or skinny jeans and flats.
